Rag & Bone Names Ruhnke as Head of Communications

Rag & Bone has named Tanja Ruhnke to be its new Head of Communications, as the experienced PR and press executive moves across the Atlantic to take up her new position in New York.
The position is a “newly created post at Rag & Bone, in a bid to support U.S. and international growth with strategic, in-house communication,” the house said in a press release late Tuesday, March 20. Her appointment is “effective immediately,” the release added.
A high-trained PR person, Ruhnke joins Rag & Bone from one of fashion's biggest publicists, KCD, where she was Vice President of Public Relations in Paris for the past half decade.
The multi-lingual Ruhnke – she English, French, Italian and her native German – had been previously been International Communications Director at Helmut Lang in New York, a position she held until 2004.
A graduate of America's most famous fashion college, New York's Fashion Institute of Technology, Ruhnke will be kept busy in her new role, overseeing worldwide PR, advertising, special events, VIP relations, while she will build a full service in-house communications department.
“It was the right time to take the directive for all our communication efforts in-house. Tanja gets what Rag & Bone is about and we are pleased to have her on board. She is the right person to spearhead our global communications expansion,” said the fashion-forward downtown brand's founders and managing partners Marcus Wainwright and David Neville.
Ruhnke will report directly to Neville and Wainwright.
Founded primarily as a denim label in 2002, Rag & Bone went on launch a fully-fledged men's wear collection in 2004, adding a women's wear collection in 2005, before Wainwright and Neville won a CFDA award for Men’s Wear Designer of the Year in 2010.
