BCBG Max Azria's Modern Warriors
Simone Goller
February 10th, 2011 @ 5:22 PM - New York
BCBG Max Azria, one of the first shows to spearhead this fall 2011 fashion week in New York on Thursday, Feb. 10, made a bold statement with elegant elongated proportions in electric brights and neutral shades.
Wearing almost monastic, warrior-like ensembles, focused and poised models wore long flowing silhouettes, with cinched, belted waists to give form to the designs. Sharp collared lines and plunging V's were layered over white body suits with black cuffs, giving the affect of futuristic armor-like coverage. Tall navy and black boots added a roughness and edge.
But feminine undertones were ever-present with electric flashes of red, cobalt blue and mustard, sometimes layered over a dull rose hue or even black, to make the color really pop. Cut out peep shoulders provided a sensual but modest touch of skin to the extended and, frequently, asymmetrical hemlines.
BCBG Max Azria put on a tough act to follow with its new take on simplicity for the season, while bringing a fresh sensibility with a hushed seduction, and a mature elegance to the line's already loyal young fan base.
